Reason To Breathe by Rebecca Donovan

Title: Reason to Breathe by Rebecca Donovan
Genre: New Adult Fiction Romance
Date: February 19, 2015
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Seriously this book had me on the verge of tears... Loved it

In the affluent town of Weslyn, Connecticut, where most people worry about what to be seen in and who to be seen with, Emma Thomas would rather not be seen at all. She’s more concerned with feigning perfection while pulling down her sleeves to conceal the bruises - not wanting anyone to know how far from perfect her life truly is. Without expecting it, she finds love. It challenges her to recognize her own worth - but at the risk of revealing the terrible secret she’s desperate to hide.

Reason to Breathe is an electrifying page turner from start to finish, a unique tale of life-changing love, unspeakable cruelty, and one girl’s fragile grasp of hope.
This book is centered around abuse. Just a warning.

Donovan really was able to capture the sense of abuse in her book Reason to Breathe. There was a strong willed character who was slowly being broken down at home. She was unable to help herself without hurting the ones she loved.

This book was literally heart breaking. But, heart warming at the same time. You witness her breaking out of her shell, even though she knows whats coming when she gets home. She has a fantastic school life but a horrible home life. Breaks my heart.

The romance in this book is subtle then all of a sudden BAM its in your face. The relationship they have is beautiful. He helps her through thick and thin, and doesn'tjudge her.

Definite recommendation book. Loved it!

Loved this book so much I had to repost it!

I liked the whole magic system they have. I also love the type of books where the main characters have to train to become better. The tension between the characters who are fighting for the same spots in the academy. Loved It!

Before the age of seventeen the young men and women of Jerar are given a choice -follow tradition, or pursue a trial year in one of the realm's three war schools to study as a soldier, knight or mage...

For 15-year-old Ryiah the choice has always been easy. Become a warrior and leave the boring confines of her lowborn life behind. Set to enroll in the School of Knighthood on the eve of her next birthday, plans suddenly shift when her twin brother discovers powers. Hoping that hers will soon follow, she enrolls with Alex at the Academy instead -the realm's most notorious war school for those with magic.

Yet when she arrives Ry finds herself competing against friend and foe for one of the exalted apprenticeships. Every "first-year" is given a trial year to prove their worth -and no amount of hard work and drive will guarantee them a spot. It seems like everyone is rooting for her to fail -and first and foremost among them Prince Darren, the school prodigy who has done nothing but make life miserable since she arrived.

When an accidental encounter leads Ryiah and Darren to an unlikely friendship she is convinced nothing good will come of it. But the lines become blurred when she begins to improve -and soon she is a key competitor for the faction of Combat... Still, nothing is ever as it seems -and when the world comes crashing down around her, Ry is forced to place faith in the one thing she can believe in -herself. Will it be enough?

Sexual tension at its finest....

Pixie and Levi haven't spoken in nearly a year when they find themselves working―and living―at the same inn in the middle of nowhere. Once upon a time, they were childhood friends. But that was before everything went to hell. And now things are... awkward.

All they want to do is avoid each other, and their past, for as long as possible. But now that they're forced to share a bathroom, and therefore ashower, keeping their distance from one another becomes less difficult than keeping their hands off each other. Welcome to the hallway of awkward tension and sexual frustration, folks. Get comfy. It’s going to be a long summer.
SO! This book literately had me grinding my gears in real life. I was legit like 'KISS ALREADY!' The struggle. They didn't know what they wanted, and they tried to deny that they had feelings for each other. Killed me!

So this whole situation with Levi's sister being killed and Pixie being hurt during the process. You don't really know why they are like that to each other till like a bit over mid way through the book when Levi rehashes the past. So Levi was apparently driving the truck when they were hit by a drunk driver. Killing his sister and Pixie's best friend, and nearly killing Pixie. Then Levi goes and leaves Pixie to her fucked up family.

But Pixie is not the only one alone either. Levi's family breaks up. His parents get a divorce, and move to separate sides of the country. And he is left to be at college by himself.

So the sexual tension in this book is legit. I'm being serious, this is one of those books where your just like 'WE KNOW YOU LOVE EACH OTHER SO JUST BE WITH EACH OTHER!'. There is also this whole thing with Pixie's scar, and how it brings up the past when Levi sees it.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who's looking for a fun and quick read!
