Wow! Another fantastic book written by no one else but Jennifer L. Armentrout. I wasn't expecting this when I first started this book. I cant really say much about this book without spoiling it... so, just read it.

He’s arrogant, domineering, and... To. Die. For.

Hunter is a ruthless killer. And the Department of Defense has him firmly in their grasp, which usually doesn’t chafe too badly because he gets to kill bad guys. Most of the time he enjoys his job. That is, until he’s saddled with something he’s never had to do before: protect a human from his mortal enemy.

Serena Cross didn’t believe her best friend when she claimed to have seen the son of a powerful senator turn into something... unnatural. Who would? But then she witnesses her friend’s murder at the hands of what can only be an alien, thrusting her into a world that will kill to protect their secret.

Hunter stirs Serena’s temper and her lust despite their differences. Soon he’s doing the unthinkable—breaking the rules he’s lived by, going against the government to keep Serena safe. But are the aliens and the government the biggest threats to Serena’s life… or is it Hunter?
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

So we have Serena, shes stubborn, cocky and dosen't like to be bossed around. Then we have Hunter who is also bossy, stubborn, cocky and he dosn't like to be bossed around. Imagine what happens when you put those two together.

At the begining of the book Serena's friend tells her that she saw her boyfriend light up like a glow worm, and they were talking about a project and about Dellalus. If I was in Serena's position I wouldn't have believed her either. But, soon Serena finds out that she wasen't lieing. Out in the parking lot Serena witnesses her friend being blown  up by a Luxen, and thats where It all starts to go down hill.

Then the book shifts to Hunters point of view. He works for the government, controls the Luxen population. And on occation protect a human or two. In this case he is hired to protect Serena from the Governer who wants her dead, and not only that to get information out of her on what her dead friend said to her. To be honest I knew by this point that something bad was deffinetly going to happen with the government, just like in the Lux series.

So, when Hunter and Serena first met it was in the same parking garage that Serena's friend got blew up in. She was picking up her car. She witnessed a man standing in the shadows, and he came up to her all domminering and shit trying to tell her what to do. She was not having it...

Anywho, Serena and Hunter end up 'living' together, by other means Serena's kept locked up in a house for days. You could tell that there was some serious sexual tension gathering in there. When its finaly let loose, I was like 'YES' but then when he went all 'sucky the soul out of her' I went 'NO nO NONO'. So he struggles with keeping feeding and sexual intercourse apart... only with her.

I find there relationship kind of hilarious. If you think about it, hes an alien and hes not supose to love, or basically have feelings. But, then Serena comes along he changes his mind, and basically gives up his life to protect her. Talk about a life switcher uper.

All of Armentrouts characters are hilarious. She knows how to keep a reader hooked on a book and/or a character. This is why shes one of my favorite authors. I would deffinetly reccomend this to a friend. Its fantastic.
